The Mother Tongue Programme on the Elementary Campus

The Mother Tongue Programme is an additional educational extension programme. We are proposing two (2) periods of one (1) hour of Mother Tongue each week on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 2:45pm to 3:45pm. Each language group has flexibility in terms of scheduling and the number/size of groups.

During the past years, depending on the demands, the following 12 languages have been taught: Danish, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Malay, Mandarin, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. Some new languages may be add, should the need arise. Every year, between 75 and 110 students enroll in all these courses.

To promote our host country language, ISPP organizes five classes of Khmer MT, based on grade levels. Teachers follow the national curriculum for Khmer language. The oldest students attend classes four hours a week. Special efforts are made to introduce in the Khmer language the central ideas and related vocabulary of each Unit of Inquiry (PYP Programme).

A school report is issued twice a year in the target language.
