Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model UN, students take on roles as diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization (IGO). Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

MRISA Invitational MUN at UNIS Hanoi 16 to 19 February, 2011
This year, five students from ISPP attended the Third Annual UNIS MUN Conference (2011): Paul Brimble, Austin Gillette, Armando Neves, Pieter Lam and Mac Veitch. Pieter and Mac both represented China and Armando was the only delegate of Venezuela. Paul was the President of the General Assembly (PGA) and due to a last minute decision, Austin become the Chair of the 2nd General Assembly Committee (GA2). Lobbying took place on Saturday where all the delegates collaborated with each other to combine, improve and polish resolutions. The delegates were also allocated time to prepare speeches for the debates which began on Friday morning. There were lots of initial difficulties during the debates with a lack of enthusiasm and confidence, however, later on into the day, delegates began to speak more and debates became more fruitful. Saturday was the Plenary Session where all the delegates in the General Assembly committees came together to debate the best resolutions from each committee. These went quite smoothly and there were many motions to extend debate time because the delegates had become really passionate about certain resolutions. Overall, the conference was very successful for all members of the ISPP MUN team.
