It is my pleasure to welcome you to the International School of Phnom Penh (ISPP) website. If you are considering enrolling your child in ISPP this year, you have made the right decision. There is a great deal of useful information throughout the site and I hope you will take some time to look around and see for yourself what makes ISPP the international school of choice in Phnom Penh.
ISPP has a diverse community of learners with nearly 50 nationalities represented. Our school was established in 1989 and over the years it has grown and evolved into a world-class International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. This year ISPP celebrates its 25th anniversary in the Kingdom of Cambodia. We are also celebrating the opening of our purpose-built Secondary School in 2014 and the Elementary school, which will follow on the same site in 2015. We now have a world-class learning environment to match world-class IB instruction at all levels.
We offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Early Years through Grade 5; IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 6 through 10; and the two-year, pre-university, IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12. These three programmes, which dovetail into one another, are the curriculum framework at ISPP.
Our teachers are specially trained IB educators and many have specifically sought out ISPP as the place to teach because of our reputation for academic excellence and emphasis on teacher professional development. At ISPP, your child will receive a rigorous education, based on international best teaching practices, provided by highly motivated and certified teaching professionals.
In terms of curriculum and instruction, ISPP is extremely strong. When I decided to accept this post in Cambodia, the quality of the educational programme was my first consideration. Since the IB programme is recognized worldwide, and parents can be reassured that the education your child receives at ISPP is portable, respected and highly valued. Another important factor is quality control. ISPP is externally authorized by the IB as well as by the Council of International Schools (CIS) in Europe and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in the US. As part of our focus on quality, we have adopted the IB Learner Profile in order to show parents what attributes students are expected to demonstrate at each grade level.
I am looking forward to another exciting school year at ISPP. We continue to meet and exceed the standards set by our three external accrediting agencies; to achieve the goals of our strategic plan, including our new facilities initiative; and to constantly review and further develop our academic programme and offerings. We will always seek ways to improve student learning, manage our resources prudently and look for areas of partnership with the local Khmer community. Community service will continue to be a mainstay of the ISPP learning environment.
Enjoy your tour through the ISPP website and feel free to contact me with questions you may have. If you are in Phnom Penh, please stop by our Admissions office and learn more about what we can offer your child and family.
