Board of Trustees
The ISPP Board of Trustees is the main policy-making body of our school. The parents elect the Board to two-year terms with approximately one-half of the Board members standing for election each April at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The board is composed of 9 members. The school Director is an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees and is the Chief Educational and Administrative Officer of the School. An extremely important way for parents to have very direct input into Board decisions is to volunteer to serve on one of the School Board standing committees. The Board has three standing Committees, each chaired by a Board member:
- Policy Committee (PC): monitors the regulations pertaining to the operation, development, and long term planning for ISPP. They recommend changes to Policy relevant to current practice or need, and regularly review current Policies for updating.
- Finance & Facilities Committee (FFC): monitors the budget and facilities planning and use.
- Governance Committee (GC) coordinates the identification, cultivation, recruitment, and orientation of new board members; facilitates board self-assessment; identifies the board's needs for education and training, and designs vehicles to meet those needs (i.e. Board retreats); and organizes the recognition of individual board members. The committee identifies nominees for election or appointment to the Board of Trustees. All nominations for appointed positions are sent to the board for its approval.
The Committees report their findings and recommendations to the full Board for consideration. All standing Board Committee meetings are open to parents and parents are encouraged to join them. From time to time the Board establishes ad hoc committees to study, review, and recommend solutions to specific issues.
